The Last Tsar - Epilogue

In May 1887, in the middle of the night, Alexander Ulyanov and his younger brother Vladimir Ilych Ulyanov (Lenin), were in deep sleep in their room in St. Petersburg. There was heavy knocking at the door, then the sound of heavy footsteps into the room. Alexander opened his eyes, and saw a member of the Akrahana (secret police), in black dress standing beside his bed. He asked Alexander to follow him. Alexander descended the stairs, walked dawn into the hall then out of the gate. He was pushed into a black coach with all its curtains drawn. The coach disappeared into the dark night. Alexander was never seen again. A few days later Alexander was hanged.

Did Lenin ever forget that dreadful night? Perhaps not, ever.

Who was to be blamed for that terrible tragedy of Russian monarchy? Perhaps the Tsarina or both the Tsar and Tsarina.

On August 12, 1904, was at last born the heir to the throne. Alas! The heir was haemophiliac. The distraught mother turned to Rasputin for help. Rasputin’s presence near the throne, his influence on the Empress and through her on the government of Russia brought the downfall of monarchy.

Once on the throne, Nicholas faced two catastrophes - his one and only son, the heir to the throne was haemophiliac, the other one was the disintegration of his vast empire. Fate introduced “Haemophilia”. It was the blow from which the imperial Russia never recovered. In the gigantic storm which swept over Russia, he and all he loved were carried away.

He made mistakes vast and terrible. He paid a high price for it. He, his wife and all five children died martyr’s deaths.
